Repairing things that we already own is a great way to reduce our impact on the environment and save the planet’s resources. It also contributes to tackling climate change and reducing our carbon footprint.
There are some great online tutorials to help learn how to repair things such as clothes and other items and YouTube is full of videos to help you with all sorts of repairs.
However, sometimes its handy to have a helping hand and the ‘repair cafes and groups’, springing up in Suffolk are there to do just that! They are run by community groups, are free to attend and are a great way to meet people and get some help fixing your item. They often involve other recycling schemes, helpful advice on living more sustainably and even tea and cake!
Here are the details of the repair cafes we are currently aware of. Please get in touch if you know of other repair cafes or groups in Suffolk that you think should be included in the list below, by emailing waste.management@suffolk.gov.uk.
Note: Please check with each repair group what types of repairs they will be offering for that month as it depends on volunteers' availability.

There are also many Men's Sheds (many also welcome women!) which are community spaces about making friends, learning, repairing and sharing skills.
