Hard to recycle items

There are some items that can’t be recycled in your home recycling bin or at recycling centres. But all is not lost for these ‘hard to recycle’ items ...

Soft plastics

What are soft plastics? Soft plastics are things like plastic bags, plastic film, bread bags, pasta bags, crisp packets and chocolate bar wrappers. If you're not sure, a simple test is to scruch it up and if it pings back, its soft plastic.

Many supermarkets are now offering soft and flexible plastic recycling. Click the links below for some of the schemes on offer and see whether your local store has a collection point.

Sainsbury’s

Some other supermarkets have collection bins for soft plastics such as plastic bags, food bags and plastic film but you will need to check with the store in advance.
